Ecoblox partners with Rimac on modular data center solution

Our take – ONQU

For UK IT leaders, this story is a reminder that data centre capacity is increasingly being built in modular blocks rather than large fixed facilities. Ecoblox and Rimac have announced a partnership on a modular data centre solution, with the first deployment planned for Rimac's campus in Kerestinec, Croatia. For our customers running critical systems, the practical point is that new infrastructure is arriving faster and in smaller units, which can change how capacity is planned, how it is moved and how it is secured. At ONQU we manage data operations for organisations, including data transition and migration, database support and managed services, so we see the same questions come up repeatedly: where will the data live, how will it be protected, and what happens when something fails.

If your team is weighing up new or expanded data centre space, start by mapping which workloads depend on which hardware and which databases, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL and SAP estates. Confirm how backups, failover and recovery will work in the new location before any system is moved, and test them. Data security and resilience should be part of the design from the start rather than added afterwards, particularly where patient or financial records are involved.

The Rimac and Ecoblox announcement does not change any UK obligations or service arrangements directly. It does, however, make it a good time to review your own migration and resilience plans. We help teams with legacy modernisation, cloud migration to Azure or AWS and ongoing support across the UK.
